On December 20, 2011, the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse established an Advisory Panel to the Council. Advisory panel members will be charged with identifying research, material and other information that is in the public domain and relevant to the issues the Council is concerned with; provide input on best practice models as well as effective and efficient addiction service systems; and, provide other relevant advice to assist the Council in fulfilling its mission. 

It is expected that the Advisory Panel will play an important role in aiding the Council to more effectively meet this charge and its statutory duties.  The resolution establishing the Council's Advisory Panel granted the Council chairman the authority to appoint Panel members and the Panel chairman.
