Public awareness is a core function of the Council.  The Council is uniquely positioned to raise awareness about substance use disorders. GCADA works with the Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Program, as well as other state departments, stakeholders, and community partners across the state, to develop and disseminate public awareness campaigns, and help combat the discrimination associated with addiction.

Our Addiction Does Not Discriminate campaign, launched on May 22, 2014, represents a partnership between GCADA and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, including its Division of Consumer Affairs, Division of Criminal Justice, Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, and Division of State Police; the New Jersey Department of Human Services and its Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services; the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of New Jersey; the New Jersey Department of Education; and the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey.
